How a week goes

They play. You get one small thing to do. Then you see what stuck.

01 · Learner

Your learner plays for five minutes.

Short swipe games and lessons built on the Ontario French Immersion Curriculum, with French audio for every word. Gems for finishing, which can go toward gifts you set up.

The games
02 · Together

Coach gives you three ideas.

Built from what they just played. Every French word comes with its English, so you can help without speaking French.

How Coach works
03 · Report

You see what actually happened.

Studied and played, counted separately. Which words are strong, which keep slipping, and whether it's improving.

The Report
For learners · Grades 1–8

Homework doesn't have to be a battle.

Open Nibits, let them swipe for a few minutes, and stay the helper, not the bad guy. They learn because it's fun.

  • Five minutes is a session. Short enough to fit before dinner or between activities.
  • Hear every word in French. Tap to listen, so learners say it right, and grown-ups can too.
  • Gems for finishing lessons. Spend them in the store, or on a gift your family sets up.
  • A progress code, not a password. Practice keeps going when the iPad changes hands.

Family gifts

Gems they earn, gifts you choose.

Set up your own rewards: a later bedtime, choosing Friday's movie, a trip for ice cream. Your learner earns gems by finishing lessons and picks a gift once they have enough.

  • You set the gift and the price. Big or small, screen-free or not. It's up to your family.
  • Gems come from lessons. Gems are earned by finishing lessons, so gifts reward real practice.
  • Anyone can add one. Grandparents, aunts, uncles — a gift from them goes on the same list.

Coach · for grown-ups

Three words tonight. You don't need French.

Three short things to do with your learner, built from what they just played. For parents, grandparents, and anyone at the table.

01Your learner plays a few activities or games.
02Coach looks at what they played: words still slipping, words they just got strong at, and the topic they're on.
03You sit together for five minutes and try one idea.

Private by design. Coach ideas are made on your device from your learner's play. No AI.

Quick check · 5 min

Revisit words that are still slipping

Take turns choosing one word. The other person says what it means, then uses it in a short sentence. One pass is enough.

Learner teaches · 5 min

Let your learner teach the newest strong words

Ask how to say each word, what it means, and where it could be used. Make one playful mistake and let them correct you.

Teach the topic · 5 min

Ask about the topic they're on

Ask your learner to show you words from the topic. Repeat each one, guess its meaning, and let them correct you.

Report · for grown-ups

They learn because it's fun. You see what they studied.

Studied and played are counted separately — playing isn't studying, and neither is screen time. Only time inside an activity or a game counts.

Is it sticking?

Every try counts. A word can slip back out of strong.

Is my learner improving?

Per topic, try by try — so a week off can't distort it.

Questions families ask

I don't speak French. Can I still help?

Yes — that's what Coach is for. Every French word comes with its English, and the ideas are things like "let your learner teach you," where they're the expert.

How do family gifts work?

On Home or in the Store's Gifts tab, tap Add a gift and give it a name and a gem price. A grown-up answers a quick question to make it a deal. Your learner earns gems by finishing lessons, claims the gift once they have enough, and shows you the coupon. Then you hand it over in real life.

Can I hear how the words sound?

Yes. Every French word has audio. Tap it to hear it, which helps learners and grown-ups who don't speak French.

Do we need an account?

No sign-up needed. Progress is saved with a progress code, so you can pick up on another device without a password.

Does game time count as studying?

No. The Report keeps Studied and Played separate, and only counts time actually spent inside an activity or game — not time the app is open.

What grades is it for?

Grades 1–8, based on the Ontario French Immersion Curriculum. Younger learners come for the gems; older learners get the same five-minute practice at their grade level.

We're in French Immersion outside Ontario. Will it work?

For vocabulary practice, yes. Topics follow the Ontario curriculum, so they may not line up exactly with your province's.

We already use another app or worksheets.

Keep them. Nibits is built around the Ontario French Immersion Curriculum, and the Report shows which words are sticking, so you can see what each one is doing.

I'm a teacher. Can I recommend it?

Please do. Nibits is for home practice: families start free, with no sign-up.

Where is my learner's data?

In Canadian data centres. There are no ads and no trackers, and Coach ideas are made on your device — no AI.

Five minutes tonight. Three words together.

Hand them the iPad. Coach will have something for you when they're done.
